Tiger Woods Dropped

Posted by The D On December - 31 - 2009

Tiger Woods just got a dropped call from AT&T — as in, “Hello, Tiger? You’ve been dropped.”

AT&T did not explain why they’re ending the sponsorship with Tiger.

The news comes in the wake of a study, which shows Tiger’s sponsors took a serious financial hit after news of his infidelity became public.

Tiger had already lost a deal with Accenture.

Pacquiao Files Lawsuit

Posted by The D On December - 30 - 2009

Floyd-Mayweather-Jr-vs-Manny-Pacquiao

pound-for-pound boxing champion Manny Pacquiao filed a lawsuit in Nevada federal court against Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Floyd Mayweather, Sr., Roger Mayweather, Mayweather Promotions, LLC, and Golden Boy Promotions executives Oscar de la Hoya, and Richard Schaefer for making false and defamatory statements accusing Pacquiao of taking performance-enhancing drugs. The complaint is attached. The lawsuit claims the Mayweathers, de la Hoya, and Schaefer knew that Pacquiao has never taken performance-enhancing drugs, knew their statements were false, but made them anyway out of “ill-will, spite, malice, revenge, and envy.”

Pacquiao has retained Daniel Petrocelli of the Los Angeles-based law firm of O’Melveny & Myers LLP. About the filing of the complaint, Petrocelli stated: “Manny Pacquiao’s achievements come from God-given talent and an indefatigable work ethic — not steroids. He cannot and will not allow others to deliberately misrepresent his years of hard work and tarnish his reputation.”

The lawsuit was filed in federal district court in Las Vegas, Nevada, and seeks compensatory and punitive damages for defendants’ wrongful conduct.

Top 5 New Years Eve Parties

Number 5

Mansion Miami New Year’s Eve

Miami

If you’re like most men and you drool over Playboy bunny Kim Kardashian, Mansion in Miami is the place you’ll want to be this New Year’s Eve. Along with Kardashian, who will host the event, will be DJ Colleen Shannon, who is promoted as “the world’s sexiest DJ.” While this may sound like a New Year’s made in heaven, you’ve got to wonder how many local Miami babes will be in attendance. The danger with promoting hotties for a stylish event like this is that you run the risk of ending up with a sausage fest and not enough women in the crowd.

Number 4.

The Indulgence New Year’s Eve Bash

Seattle

The sixth annual Indulgence Bash is the largest New Year’s party in Seattle. The venue is a palatial 140,000 square-foot museum of music founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Housing both rock memorabilia and technological multimedia displays, the architecture is overwhelmingly avant garde. Designed by Frank Gehry, the building’s undulating, sheet-metal surfaces provide a glorious space and plenty of room to get your drink on. Inside, there will be three dance floors, an open bar and a comedy lounge.

Number 3

Sky Bar at The Shoreclub

Miami

Hosted by Ashlee Simpson and featuring a live performance by Eve, Sky Bar at The Shoreclub is renowned as one of America’s more raucous parties. In part, this is because of Miami’s weather, and the fact that The Shoreclub property includes a pool, tropical gardens and outdoor bars to go along with the indoor lounges. The venue is on Miami’s South Beach, and the building’s architecture is the handiwork of famed British architect David Chipperfield. After passing through the Art Deco lobby, the building’s defining feature is its labyrinth of indoor gardens and passageways that twist and turn toward hidden alcoves.

Number 2

New Year’s Eve at Hotel Gansevoort

New York

Celebrated gossip columnist and blogger Perez Hilton will be on hand to ring in the New Year at the Gansevoort; New York’s hottest boutique hotel in the Meatpacking District. Featuring an open bar and catering by the restaurant Ono, the festivities will be split between several rooms, including a basement spa and a spectacular indoor roof garden and lounge.

 Number 1

Kanye West at Palms Hotel for New Year’s Eve

Las Vegas

Over the last few years, Kanye West has gone from producing Jay-Z’s beats to the frontlines of the rap world. While he may not have accumulated the same degree of critical acclaim and cultural impact as Jay-Z, there is little doubt that Kanye West is in the same ballpark.

At the Palms Hotel this year, West will headline the evening’s events when he performs in the Pearl Theater inside the hotel. In addition to Kanye West, a mixed bag of celebrities and hotties will provide alternative forms of entertainment. From Dave Navarro and DJ Skribble to Jaime Pressly and “10 of the world’s sexiest Playboy Playmates,” this event may lack a clear style, but this is Vegas, a city that specializes in incompatible extravagance.

Tiger Woods — the world’s best golfer and possibly the world’s worst husband — ‘celebrates’ his 34th birthday Wednesday. Of course, with his public image and marriage in shambles, Tiger probably isn’t celebrating much — and if he is, it certainly won’t be anywhere cameras can snap him. -Radar Online

Jay-Z 40 and Happy

Posted by The D On December - 30 - 2009

Jay_Z_3

Jay-Z feels “fantastic” since turning 40.

The ‘99 Problems’ rapper – whose latest ‘Blueprint 3′ album topped the US charts, giving him more number one LPs than any other solo artist – reaches the landmark age last December and insists he is happy with it because his career is going so well.

He said: “I feel fantastic about turning 40, I’m in a great place, got a fantastic album, my eleventh number one which beats Elvis, so I’m feeling like the king of pop.”

Despite his massive success, the star – who is married to Beyonce Knowles – insists he manages to stay grounded, thanks to the attitudes of his family.

He added: “When people get success, they often start getting rid of their immediate circle who knew them to surround themselves with yes men and women and they get lost. I have great friends around to keep me grounded, fame is a drug and your feet can get lifted off the ground but I try to stay centered and whenever I start getting big headed, they stop me.

“My sisters act like I work for them, which is great but I pretty much keep myself in check.”

Jay-Z – whose real name is Shawn Carter – also admitted he refuses to let his fame get in the way of leading a normal life.

He said: “When you live your life in the spotlight people tend to think our success or who you are is not a real thing, I like people to know I am a real person. I just happen to have a talent for making music and a work ethic to match it.

“I try to approach everyday life – no matter what happens, whether there are 100 photographers or not – as normal. I still go out to eat and eat outside at places, no problem. Sometimes I snap but for the most part I’m cool with it, as long as people don’t invade your personal space I understand it comes with the business, it’s not a big bother.”
