Every year, Maxim releases their Hot 100 list of the world’s most beautiful women. This year, topping the list over the likes of Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox, Rihanna, and others, was none other than pop act, Katy Perry.

Why? The mag’s editor says it’s Perry’s “supernova moment.”

“It’s that feeling you get when you suddenly realize that the smartest, funniest, coolest girl you know also happens to the best looking and a pretty good skateboarder too,” Maxim editor-in-chief, Joe Levy, told ABC News. “All of a sudden, your crush goes supernova, and this is Katy’s supernova moment.”

Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue cover girl (and tennis star Andy Roddick’s wife) Brooklyn Decker came in a close second to Katy, with big screen beauty Zoe Saldana placing third – a sizeable jump from her #29 ranking last year.

“To be perfectly honest, ‘Avatar’ is awesome – but she’s Uhura,” Levy added, referencing her “Star Trek” character. “Let’s not forget – we’re nerds. So you know, sexy ‘Star Trek’? Need I say more?”

“Gossip Girl” Blake Lively finished fourth, with Megan Fox fifth and Rihanna, Elisabetta Canalis, Olivia Munn, Kim Kardashian and Marisa Miller rounding out the top 10, respectively.

Other notable names on this year’s list include Scarlett Johansson (14), last year’s top choice Olivia Wilde (20), “Twilight Saga” beauty Ashley Greene (29), country cutie Taylor Swift (31), Angelina Jolie (38), “Modern Family” stunner Sofia Vergara (47), Britney Spears (54), ESPN and “Dancing” bombshell Erin Andrews (58) and Chelsea Handler (87).

Looks like Iron Man’ armor was enough to deflect all the slings and arrows thrown by the release of the new film, “Robin Hood,” which failed to dethrone “Iron Man 2″ from this weekend’s box office throne.

The comic book hero recorded another great weekend, taking in another $53 million, after a record-breaking debut last weekend. In two weeks, “Iron Man 2″ has raked in $212 million domestically and shows no signs of slowing down.

The new “Robin Hood” flick, starring Russell Crowe, has a decent opening at #2, pulling in $37.1 million. However, the film cost a reported $200 million to make.

The romance “Letters to Juliet” earned the #3 position with $13.7 million; and the last of this weekend’s new releases was “Just Wright,” starring Queen Latifah and Common,” brining in $8.5 million to take #4.

Rounding out the top 5 was “How To Train Your Dragon,” with $5.1 million, taking its total to-date to $207.7
million domestically.

That wraps things up this weekend. Next weekend, look out for the comedy “MacGruber,” and the animated “Shrek Forever After.”

The Orange County District Attorney’s office has decided not to file domestic abuse charges against Tito Ortiz.

Farrah Emami, a spokesperson for the district attorney’s office, today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Ortiz’s case was not strong enough to prosecute.

“We declined to file based on insufficient corroboration to prove the charge beyond a reasonable doubt,” Emami said. “It was two conflicting stories.”

Ortiz was arrested on April 26 on suspicion of domestic violence and taken to the Huntington Beach Police Department after a confrontation with his live-in girlfriend, former adult actress Jenna Jameson. Ortiz posted bail the same day.

The pair briefly battled in the press over the incident, with Ortiz claiming Jameson is an Oxycontin addict and Jameson calling Ortiz a “wifebeater.” The two softened their stance after several days and appeared to be headed toward reconciliation.

The pair have one-year-old twins together.

A temporary restraining order filed against Ortiz recently lapsed, and the two were seen together on a beach with twins in tow.

Ortiz, 35, is currently on TV screens as a coach of “The Ultimate Fighter 11″ opposite former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell. However, he is widely expected to exit the show and be replaced by former middleweight champion Rich Franklin.

The UFC earlier this month announced Liddell will face Franklin at UFC 115 on June 12‚ which all but confirmed Ortiz’s exodus from the show. The reality show’s traditional format dictates a fight between coaches at the conclusion of each season.

In his most recent octagon appearance, Ortiz (15-7 MMA, 14-7 UFC) lost a split decision to former light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin at UFC 106.

Freddie Roach, the world famous boxing trainer to Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, told Associated Press that he believes the negotiations for the most anticipated boxing match of this era; Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao, will begin shortly after Pacquiao’s May 10th Philippine election outcome. Manny Pacquiao is running for congressional seat in Sarangani Province and is currently winning in the polls and expected to win by a landslide.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. was counting money, and had to be equally happy.

“There’s a reason they call him Money Mayweather,” Mayweather’s manager, Leonard Ellerbe, said. “He’s winding up making $40 million for his night’s work.”

Indeed, Mayweather’s mood was brightened by the unofficial tally showing 1.4 million people paid to watch him dominate Shane Mosley, which Ellerbe said meant his payday would be almost double the $22.5 million he was guaranteed for the fight.

If the numbers are accurate, it would mean that Mayweather has been in the two richest non-heavyweight pay-per-view fights ever. Just as important, it gives him pay-per-view bragging rights over Pacquiao and perhaps an upper hand if and when representatives of the two sit down to negotiate the fight all boxing fans really want.

If the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather super-fight cannot be made, Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter said his plan B option is for Pacquiao to fight Antonio Margarito on November 13 at Dallas Cowboy stadium.
