Stoudamire Mom Arrested

Posted by The D On May - 19 - 2010

AmareStoudamire-thumbAmar’e Stoudemire had more on his mind than basketball during last night’s playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers — he watched his mother get arrested this weekend.

TMZ has learned the 6′10″ NBA star was named in a police report involving an incident with his mother, Carrie Mae Stoudemire, that took place Saturday afternoon.

According to the report, police in Scottsdale, Arizona pulled Carrie over for allegedly driving erratically — and eventually placed her in handcuffs for refusing to take a field sobriety test. But soon after the stop, another car — a Bentley — arrived to the scene.

Two incredibly tall men emerged from the car — and a responding officer claims he recognized one of them as Amar’e. According to the report, Carrie began kicking the patrol car and yelling for Amar’e to “get a lawyer.”

The officer claims he then asked Amar’e and his friend to leave the scene because they were causing Carrie to “act out.” According to the report, Amar’e immediately complied with the officer’s request.

Carrie — who has a long history of alcohol abuse — was eventually booked for speeding, failure to drive in a single lane and operating a vehicle without a court-ordered breathalyzer ignition interlock device.

Lebron-mvp

LeBron James will win his second straight MVP award, the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting.

James, the 10th player to win the award in consecutive seasons and the second youngest to do so, will accept the award at a new conference on Sunday at the University in Akron.

James averaged 29.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game for the Cavaliers this season.

Do you think at some point LeBron James will average a triple double for the season?

The Washington Wizards have told locker room pistolero Gilbert Arenas they believe he is in violation of his contract and they have the right to void the $111 million deal … sources tell TMZ.

We’re told a team official was trading text messages with Arenas after the locker room incident. Sources tell TMZ … in one of the messages, the official told Arenas the team felt Agent Zero violated the clause in his contract prohibiting him from engaging in conduct detrimental to the team or the NBA … and they could have the contract voided as a result.

Most NBA contracts contain morality clauses — but it’s difficult to void an NBA contract on those grounds. The Indiana Pacers didn’t void Ron Artest’s contract after “The Malice at the Palace” in 2004.

Nevertheless, there are strong indications the Wizards want out of the Arenas deal. As one law enforcement source put it, the team has been overly cooperative in the police investigation that targets Arenas.

The Game gets Dunked On

If you don’t want to get dunked on, then don’t jump — a lesson The Game learned first hand when he was on the receiving end of a vicious jam.

The Game plays for the Los Angeles Slam in the American Basketball Association. In a game on December 20 against the San Diego Surf, he went up to try and block a dunk by “Sonny” Alton Smith III. He failed.

It happens to the best of ‘em — just ask LeBron James.

Knicks PG Fined

Posted by The D On December - 28 - 2009

naterobinsondunkBenched New York Knicks guard Nate Robinson was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Monday after his agent made a trade request.

Robinson has not played in the Knicks’ last 12 games. A two-time winner of the All-Star slam dunk contest, he has played in only 12 games this season and is averaging 11 points.

Agent Aaron Goodwin recently told reporters he’d asked the Knicks to move Robinson to another team. NBA players are not allowed to publicly make trade demands, and Robinson was fined for statements detrimental to the league.

Goodwin said the benching was personal, not Basketball related. A day after Goodwin’s comments on Dec. 19, Knicks president Donnie Walsh said he would probably begin talks with the agent about a deal.

Robinson averaged a career-high 17.2 points last season as the Knicks’ sixth man. He was a restricted free agent in the offseason and re-signed with a one-year contract.

L.James A Clipper?

I believe that if Blake Griffin has no more setbacks to his timetable and returns without ill effect from his injury, he could have an impact that goes beyond just making the Clippers competitive in the West. He might put them in the hunt for LeBron James next summer. I still believe James, the reigning NBA MVP, will re-up with the Cavaliers after he becomes a free agent in July. But if he opts to take his game elsewhere, he will be weighing the championship potential of his new team and the intangibles of his new hometown. Why not L.A.? It has all the intangibles an NBA player could want. –San Antonio Express-News

Im all for James going to the Clippers as long as I buy season tickets before he comes- The D

Ron Artest wants to fight Ben Wallace in a charity boxing match to raise money for the Detroit projects. Artest, 30, envisions a large pay-per-view bout after both men have retired. He respects Wallace, but when asked if he dislikes him, Artest wouldn’t answer. “I will let you answer that,” Artest said. “I’ll leave that to public opinion.” — Detroit News
