You’re not going to believe this, but Snoop Dogg is going to pick the Lakers to win the NBA championship this year. I know — total shocker.
I guess the only surprise is that it would come in rap form, since he’s just about as famous now for being famous as he is for rapping. Nonetheless, on the “Lakers remix” to Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” Snoop D-O-Double-G actually hops on the mic to big up Los Angeles’ finest. Who does he think he is, Lil Wayne?
Identity crisis aside, the track is below. It’s called “Purp and Yellow” and, along with Snoop, it’s features The Game, YG and several profanities and references to using drugs. Standard rap fare, really, except for the part where it’s all about a professional basketball team. Law enforcement sources say Andrew Bynum was burning rubber in his customized 2010 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano on October 29 — when cops clocked him going 110 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. According to TMZ.com
Bynum was eventually ticketed for speeding — but dude was lucky he wasn’t hauled to the slammer.
Law enforcement say the only reason he wasn’t nailed on a reckless driving charge was because traffic was light and the NBA star wasn’t weaving in and out of lanes.

The Miami Heat aren’t the only team getting good players at bargain prices.
Free-agent forward Matt Barnes has agreed to a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Yahoo Sports.
Barnes reportedly will be paid $3.6 million, about half what the Cleveland Cavaliers offered for the same two-year period. He chose to join the two-time defending champions and return to California, where he was born, raised and played at UCLA.
Barnes, a feisty defender, is likely to back up Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest. He started 58 games for the Orlando Magic last season, averaging 8.8 points and 5.5. rebounds.
The Lakers will be Barnes’ eighth team in eight NBA seasons.
The Lakers also signed veteran center Theo Ratliff on Thursday.

It takes five gun-toting men to keep Kobe Bryant from stepping on the basketball court — we’re told the superstar had to miss a Los Angeles Lakers practice this morning in the wake of a violent robbery in his neighborhood.
Sources close to the team tell TMZ Kobe was issued an “excused absence” from a team shootaround at the Lakers practice facility this morning.
Unfortunately for the Utah Jazz, we’re told Kobe is expected to play tonight.
