Wright’s Body Found

Posted by The D On July - 28 - 2010

draft_wright_150x200The body of missing former NBA player Lorenzen Wright has been found by law enforcement officials, according to multiple reports.

Wright’s uncle, Curtis Wright, says Memphis police have confirmed to family members that the body found in a wooded area in the southeastern part of the city is the former Grizzlies player, according to The Associated Press.

A law enforcement source also told The Commercial Appeal in Memphis that the body was Wright’s.

Wright had been missing since July 19, and his body was found by someone who called the police on Wednesday, the newspaper’s report said.

The Memphis Police Department did not officially comment, but it is investigating a 911 hangup call from Wright’s cellphone on Monday morning.

According to a police report released on Wednesday, Wright could have been a victim of foul play after he was thought to be seen carrying some amount of cash while leaving his ex-wife’s home in the nearby Memphis suburb of Collierville.

Wright’s former wife, Sherra Robinson Wright, 39, told police that she didn’t know who he left with or what type of car they were in.

Friends told The Commercial Appeal that Wright recently flew from Atlanta to Memphis to visit friends and his six children.

Wright had planned to drive back to the Atlanta area on July 19 with his children and a friend and was last seen at approximately 2 a.m. ET on July 19.

Wright was selected as the No. 7 overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft and played for five NBA teams during his 13 years in the league, which included five years with the Memphis Grizzlies after two seasons at the University of Memphis.

NBA Player To Bust

Posted by The D On July - 28 - 2010

amarestoudemire-heykobe-204x300Who will be the NBA’s big bust next year?

It happens every year, someone gets traded or signs a big contract and they either get hurt or can not live up to the contract. Look at Elton Brand. He was an All-Star with the Clippers and signed a big contract with the 76’s and has been a bust. Stephon Marbury not much needed to be said there.
Vince Carter Salary – Magic: $16.3M 2010 | $17.3M 2011 | $18.0M 2012 (T)
Hedo Turkoglu Salary – Raptors: $9.00M 2010 | $9.80M 2011 | $10.6M 2012 | $11.4M 2013 | $12.2M 2014 (P)
Eddy Curry Salary – Knicks: $10.5M 2010 | $11.3M 2011

Look at some past contract below

Kenyon Martin: seven years, $92.5 million (2004)
Allan Houston: six years, $100 million (2001)
Keith Van Horn: six years, $73 million (1999)
Keith Van Horn: one year, $4.3 million (2008)
Vin Baker: seven years, $86 million (1999)
Jermaine O’Neal: seven years, $126.6 million (2003)
Bryant Reeves: six years, $64 million (1997)
Ben Wallace: four years, $60 million (2006)

And the list goes on and on. So we all know it is bound to happen. A player having a great year get a big contract then does not live up to the money.

I think it will be Amare Stoudemire on the Knicks.

Who do you think it will be?

Larry Hughes five years, $70 million (Cavaliers, 2005)

Chris Paul’s rumored efforts to leave New Orleans may be gaining steam.

The Hornets’ three-time All-Star point guard has accelerated his efforts to leave the team, according to a CBSSports.com report Thursday, citing a person with “direct knowledge” of the situation.

“He wants out,” the source said, according to CBSSports.com. “He wants to play with another superstar. He wants to follow LeBron’s model of teaming up with other great players.”

Paul’s list of preferred destinations includes the Knicks, Magic and Lakers, the report said.

If the Lakers get Paul it will make things a lot more interesting between the power house Lakers and possible power house Miami.

Lebron To The Clippers!!

lebron and dwade
LeBron James and the Los Angeles Clippers are in talks on a max contract hours before his announcement!!

Ok, this is not true.. King James does not want to be a part of the Clipper curse.

He does on the other hand might want to win a ring in Miami with D. wade and C. Bosh. Would this make them a dream team? Would it be 2008 all over again when the three big names joined forces in Boston??

Or does Lebron stay in Cleveland and hope and pray that they can get CP3.

The count down is on for James’s big announcement on ESPN Later this evening!!

Stoudamire Mom Arrested

Posted by The D On May - 19 - 2010

AmareStoudamire-thumbAmar’e Stoudemire had more on his mind than basketball during last night’s playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers — he watched his mother get arrested this weekend.

TMZ has learned the 6′10″ NBA star was named in a police report involving an incident with his mother, Carrie Mae Stoudemire, that took place Saturday afternoon.

According to the report, police in Scottsdale, Arizona pulled Carrie over for allegedly driving erratically — and eventually placed her in handcuffs for refusing to take a field sobriety test. But soon after the stop, another car — a Bentley — arrived to the scene.

Two incredibly tall men emerged from the car — and a responding officer claims he recognized one of them as Amar’e. According to the report, Carrie began kicking the patrol car and yelling for Amar’e to “get a lawyer.”

The officer claims he then asked Amar’e and his friend to leave the scene because they were causing Carrie to “act out.” According to the report, Amar’e immediately complied with the officer’s request.

Carrie — who has a long history of alcohol abuse — was eventually booked for speeding, failure to drive in a single lane and operating a vehicle without a court-ordered breathalyzer ignition interlock device.

Suns Sweep Spurs

Posted by The D On May - 10 - 2010

The Phoenix Suns swept away seven years of bad playoff memories brought by the San Antonio Spurs.

Steve Nash scored 20 points and played with a right eye that was swollen shut as Phoenix swept San Antonio from the Western Conference semifinals with a 107-101 win Sunday night. Amare Stoudemire led the way with 29 points to help the Suns get past the Spurs in the playoffs for the first time in five tries.

Nash’s right eye needed six stitches after taking an errant elbow from Tim Duncan.

Meanwhile, one of the more remarkable stories of the playoffs continues. Three months after Phoenix was on the brink of trading Stoudemire and calling it a season, the Suns are returning to the West finals for the first time since 2006.
